Tampa & Orlando International Airports

Tampa International Airport

MJM recently completed concurrent projects at Tampa International Airport and Orlando International Airport playing a major role in the construction and commissioning of the new Mitsubishi Automated People Movers. As part of the construction teams, MJM provided project management assistance, field supervision, logistic support, manpower, & field engineering.

The tight construction deadlines combined with the design build construction model provided many unique challenges. These challenges were compounded by the fact all of the system components were custom made for each project and the majority of the over 300 miles of cabling was specialty cable that followed strict APM requirements. MJM’s management of the RFI, submittal, and procurement process ensured the project stayed on schedule and budget throughout.

MJM was asked to manage and install a broad  scope of work as part of the APM contracts. These scopes of work included: state of the art LED lighting, 750 volt DC rail system, redundant battery UPS system for all critical controls, underground duct bank installation, complete fiber optic network, a stinger system for railcar maintenance, LCX radio communication system, closed circuit camera and security system, APM switching and isolation,  substation construction, life safety components, server rooms, automated cars wash, & lightening protection. All of this work was subject to a rigorous inspection and QAQC process overseen by Mitsubishi & Owner representatives.

The successful completion of these projects demonstrates again that there is no project too complex or of too large of scale for MJM to complete meeting the highest of standards.
